A week before Apple's September 9 event, leakers can't agree on the iPhone 18 Pro's colours — one says Dark Cherry, Sky Blue and Black with no Silver; another says Silver stays and Black is out. Here's both sides.
RUMOUREDWith Apple's iPhone 18 event a week out, the last big question is a cosmetic one: what colours will the iPhone 18 Pro come in? Two well-known leakers have offered flatly contradictory answers, so this is very much a 'wait for the keynote' situation — but the disagreement itself is telling.
THE CLAIM: BLACK IN, SILVER OUT
Leaker 'Fixed Focus Digital' says the iPhone 18 Pro has entered full mass production in a lineup of Dark Cherry (also described as Burgundy), Sky Blue and Black — with no Silver. They say a Silver option 'most likely' won't be offered, noting they've seen no evidence of it in China.
If that holds, it would be a clean sweep: Apple replacing all three of the iPhone 17 Pro's colours with new options rather than carrying Silver forward, as several earlier reports had assumed.
THE COUNTER-CLAIM: SILVER STAYS, BLACK GOES
Then there's Sonny Dickson, who claims to have seen SIM card trays for the iPhone 18 Pro models in light blue, dark red and silver — the exact opposite on the two contested colours. Dickson argues black 'is not a color Apple prefers to use anymore,' suggesting the black finish showing up in dummy units was likely created out of habit by accessory makers rather than reflecting a real SKU.
HOW TO READ IT
Where the two agree is more reliable than where they clash: both point to a blue and a dark red/burgundy in the lineup. The genuine coin-flip is Black vs Silver. Colour is also one of the few things actually changing this cycle — the iPhone 18 Pro's design is rumoured to be a minor evolution — which is why a finish swap is getting outsized attention.
